The Packers-Cowboys ‘Sunday Night Football’ showdown had just about everything, except a winner.

The NFC sides already had an intense rivalry, but Sunday’s game was particularly intriguing due to Micah Parsons’ suiting up for the team in green against his former employers for the first time since he was traded.

Expected to receive the “Super Bowl treatment, the outing was a highly entertaining affair that somehow ended in a tie, with the 40-40 result the second-highest scoring drawn game in NFL history.

The teams could not be separated after 60 minutes and were tied 37-37 at the end of regulation, requiring an overtime period in which the home team could only muster a field goal.

The Packers cut it close after receiving the football. The clock nearly expired on Jordan Love, leaving Green Bay with just one second, which was, of course, enough for a game-tying field goal.

Rex Ryan Admits Packers Were Lined Up Wrong

It’s since been suggested that the referees missed a crucial penalty at the end of the contest, with the visitors appearing to line up illegally on the 3rd-and-14 play prior to their field goal.

Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan was part of the discussion on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ on Monday morning and noted that the officials either missed several illegal formation penalties for Green Bay during overtime or allowed them to get away with it.

“They’re not even lined up right,” he said.

“I guess they let things slide or something like that…the Green Bay Packers never looked ready for the moment.”

The Packers were named as Super Bowl favorites after acquiring Parsons but have failed to pick up wins in their last two games. The tie leaves them with a 2-1-1 record.

Dallas, who held their own without Parsons, all while playing against him, are 1-2-1 on the back of the tie.

The pass rusher didn’t hold back on Jerry Jones after the game, suggesting the Cowboys owner was cowardly in handling his trade.
