First Lady Melania Trump composed a “peace letter” addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that “it is time” to protect children and future generations across the globe.

As reported by Fox News Digital, which obtained the letter exclusively, President Trump personally handed it to Putin prior to their summit in Alaska. Putin promptly read the letter in front of both the American and Russian delegations, according to Fox.

“Dear President Putin,” the letter from the first lady commences. “Every child harbors the same quiet dreams within their hearts, whether they are born in a nation’s serene countryside or a bustling city center. They aspire for love, opportunity, and safety from harm.”

“As parents, it is our obligation to foster the hope of the next generation,” the letter further states. “As leaders, our duty to protect our children extends beyond the comfort of a select few.”

“Undoubtedly, we must endeavor to create a world filled with dignity for all—so that every individual may awaken to peace, and so that the future itself is thoroughly safeguarded,” the letter articulates. “A simple yet profound notion, Mr. Putin, as I am certain you concur, is that each generation’s offspring commence their lives with a purity—an innocence that transcends geography, governance, and ideology.”

The first lady continued, expressing that “in today’s world, some children are compelled to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the surrounding darkness—a silent resistance against the forces that could potentially seize their future.”

“Mr. Putin, you have the power to restore their harmonious laughter,” Melania wrote. “By safeguarding the innocence of these children, you will accomplish more than serving Russia alone—you will serve humanity as a whole.”

“Such a courageous idea surpasses all human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, are capable of realizing this vision with a mere stroke of the pen today,” she concluded, adding: “It is time.”

Mrs. Trump’s “peace letter” was prepared prior to her husband’s significant summit with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, scheduled for Friday. This high-stakes meeting represented the first U.S.-Russia summit since June 2021, which took place under former President Joe Biden, merely eight months before Putin initiated the invasion of Ukraine.

Despite the fact that Trump and Putin had not engaged in face-to-face discussions for several years leading up to Friday’s summit, the two leaders have communicated via phone numerous times this year to deliberate on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Following the summit, President Trump informed reporters that while the proceedings seemed to have gone relatively well, “we’re not there yet” regarding a peace agreement.

“There were numerous points on which we reached consensus, I would estimate most of them,” Trump conveyed to the media after the meeting. “There are a couple of significant issues that we have yet to resolve, but we’ve made some progress. Therefore, there is no agreement until an agreement is finalized.”

In this context, Trump is set to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday for additional negotiations.

Putin made a rare public transition to English on Friday to extend an invitation to Trump to visit Moscow for the subsequent round of peace discussions, following their prominent summit in Alaska.

The summit concluded on a symbolic note when Putin, addressing Trump in English, remarked: “Next time in Moscow.”

“That’s an intriguing proposition,” Trump responded with a smile. “I’ll likely face some criticism for that one. However, I can envision it potentially occurring.”

Putin commended the discussions as “constructive” and expressed gratitude to Trump for what he described as a “friendly” and “results-oriented” approach. He indicated that the talks could “initiate our journey towards a resolution in Ukraine” and reiterated his assertion that the war would not have commenced if Trump had been president at the onset of the conflict.

Neither leader offered specifics regarding any advancements, and they refrained from addressing inquiries from the media prior to their departure.

The summit was succeeded by a transatlantic conference call that featured Trump, Zelenskyy, and multiple European leaders.
