It was confirmed by officials on Saturday (October 11) that Diane Keaton, 79, had died.

The Hollywood star was taken from her Los Angeles home to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The iconic actress starred in films including Annie HallThe First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give and The Godfather, and leaves behind her two children Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25, who she welcomed through adoption when she was in her 50s.

An official cause of death has not been confirmed by authorities, but Keaton’s close friends revealed that her health had ‘declined’ in recent months.

In an interview with People, her longtime friend, Carole Bayer Sager, revealed that the 79-year-old had been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.

The songwriter said: “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin. She had lost so much weight.

“She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything.”

“She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy.”

Following her death, TMZ obtained the 911 call that was made from Keaton’s home on the day of her passing.

The dispatch audio to the fire department noted that there was a ‘person down.’

“Rescue 19, person down,” the caller said before providing her address.

Another said: “I wasn’t ready for this forever lively legend to be gone so soon.”

As a third added: “Thank you for every time you made me laugh and cry.

“An American legend and icon. Sending love to your children.”
