Rupert Murdoch’s extensive media empire in the U.S.—which includes the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and the New York Post—has been increasingly vocal in its criticism of Vice President JD Vance.
These ongoing attacks seem to be a continuation of the unsuccessful efforts by Murdoch-owned media to dissuade former President Donald Trump from selecting Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Since that time, the Wall Street Journal has published over a dozen critical articles aimed at Vance, with further negative coverage appearing in both the New York Post and on Fox News, as reported by Breitbart News on Friday.
Murdoch’s media campaign has generated frustration among those close to President Trump and Vice President JD Vance. A source familiar with Vance’s perspective informed Breitbart News that the attacks are evidently part of a globalist initiative to undermine the president’s agenda regarding peace and trade.
“Neocons have been damaging U.S. foreign policy for decades, and they are enraged that they have no influence in this administration,” a source close to Vance shared with Breitbart News.
“President Trump has put an end to Houthi terrorist assaults on U.S. vessels, liberated all living American hostages in Gaza, and is compelling Russia and Ukraine to engage in negotiations while preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. They resent his achievements because it has revealed their significant failures,” the source added.
A senior GOP political adviser remarked that this situation illustrates how the Murdoch properties are out of sync with the current trajectory of the Republican Party.
“It is unfortunate that so much of the traditional media continues to advocate for perpetual wars and remains completely disconnected from the direction of the GOP,” the Republican adviser told Breitbart.
Another Republican strategist with close connections to the Trump White House indicated that individuals within the administration and their allies are increasingly inclined to collaborate with alternative media outlets like Breitbart News, rather than Fox News or the Wall Street Journal, which they perceive as
Since February, the Wall Street Journal has released no fewer than 17 opinion pieces and letters to the editor that criticize Vice President JD Vance—a series of critiques that seems to have escalated in late May and early June. The criticisms mainly target Vance’s stances on economic and foreign policy, underscoring a widening divide between the conventional GOP establishment and the rising economic nationalist faction of the party that Vance notably embodies, as reported by Breitbart.
Instances include a WSJ opinion piece urging Vance to reconcile his views with those of Pope Francis before the latter’s passing, particularly in opposition to mass deportations. Another piece criticized Vance for his concurrence with Trump that Ukraine and Russia should conclude their conflict and reach a peace agreement. Additionally, one article referenced the Signal chat leak to inaccurately assert that Vance diverged from Trump on a significant foreign policy matter and harbored “contempt for” American allies.
One editorial accused Vance of conspiring against Trump and beyond his tenure in office, titled: “JD Vance Already Has an Eye on His Post-Vice Presidency.”
Last month, Kimberley Strassel of the Journal contended that “Vance criticizing Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts ‘Courts Trouble for Trump was ‘unhelpful to the administration,” as reported by Breitbart.
“The persistent onslaught of misinformation against genuine America First leaders to support Fox News’ and the Wall Street Journal’s neocon operatives is becoming stale and tiresome,” remarked a senior source closely associated with the Trump family to Breitbart. “It’s a guaranteed method to ensure that authentic conservative leadership never materializes again in this nation.
